Inaugural Regular Season ‘Gate 07
The inaugural 2007 regular season tailgate at The Razor’s Edge kicked off in Patriotic style with a prime time tilt against the Chargers on September 16th. We were all anxious to re-group and kick the season off right!
Despite “Parking Lot Roulette” and the stress of trying to figure out exactly when was the right time to depart from the rendezvous point to secure a spot together in Lot 3 (the lot formally known as P2). W
e finally managed to park together fairly close to the pedestrian walkway and set up in earnest. It didn’t take long before the tents were erected, Monty’s charcoal was lighted and a myriad of grills, stoves and cooking pots were fired up.
A host of regulars, guests, and newbies feasted on chili, every meat known to man, and yes… even veggies made an appearance! It was great to reunite with fellow tentmates Zip & Bren, Monty & Christa, Robin, Dana, Lisa, Mark, Robin & Geoff, Darren, Don & Kar
en, Laureen & Larry, Mike, Cookie and respective guests…. and share good food, drink and passion for our team.
Making their first appearance were Al’s sister Bernie and friend Denise who was here from California. Both enjoyed a super sports-filled weekend hitting both Fenway and Gillette. Thankfully, the Pats fared better than the Sox during their double header. Also making it’s first appearance at Gillette was freshly brewed and bottled Bruschi Brew 12! Can’t wait to dip into that delicious elixer!!
Laureen and Larry presented me with a special Lei that they picked up in Hawaii, made from Hpnotiq bottles. Sounds good to me!! Naturally, Zip took care of the jello shots and the opening toast. Big Al and Monty sparked up the stogies, and of course, no Web tailgate would be complete without a song… This week’s version was sung to the tune of “Lady Madonna” by the Beatles:
Brady, Maroney
Brady, Maroney- Chargers must be beat
Wonder how you’ll manage such a big feat
Who finds the money when Bill pays his fine
I know it won’t be yours, it won’t be mine.
Friday night arrives with a team meeting
Sunday morning rising the warm sun
Brady knows not to run a bootleg
See him throw a ton…
Brady, Maroney- This will be a test
Wonder how you’ll manage to beat the rest
Living up to tradition, the Paxton crew took in the first home game live from Gillette! Once again, Artie and Nora joined them and helped in serving up some “Paxton Tacos” with Carne Asada direct from SoCal. Of course, Karen and I caught up and Lonie thrilled the visitors by allowing them to pose with one of The Rings. It was great to see them and we hope it won’t be the last of this season.
Drop-ins included listniks Miguel and Ed Bryant & Jeffrey, Angie, Dad with Deb, Jim, and post game, Chris and Kelly joined in the fun. It was a chilly night so the new batch of Bruschi Backer Hoodies came in handy. (Speaking of Hoodies, “His Hoodiness” received quite the ovation from the fans despite the week of Videogate.) All at the Razor’s Edge were certainly glad to see our team come out strong and pummel the Chargers and make a statement. Nice to turn the attention
back to football that’s for sure!
At game time, Al and I made our way to our new seats and although still in the upper deck, were much better! I was glad to get away from that aisle seat and could actually spend my time watching the Pats rather than standing up to let people in and out of the row all night!
Post-game brought champagne and toasts, yet more food and Patriotic celebration. Luckily, traffic wasn’t too ba
d and we got home around 2:00 offering me 3 1/2 hours of sleep before school. It’s amazing how I’m not quite as tired the morning after a great win! Next week, we take on the Bills at home at my favorite game time, Sunday @ 1:00. Go Pats!!
